Thermo Fisher Scientific Named Best Foreign Employer in Lithuania - On June 5, ALBC Founding Member Thermo Fisher Scientific was named an Employer of the Year in Lithuania in the category of foreign companies.
The honor was bestowed as part of the National Responsible Business Awards, the top corporate and social responsibility awards in Lithuania. The election was held by the Ministry of Social Security and Labor of the Republic of Lithuania and the administrator of the awards was the Speaker of the Parliament of Lithuania, Loreta Graužinienė.
The jury recognized Thermo Fisher for attracting young employees, collaborating with universities, promoting a healthy work culture, and providing for good working conditions for all groups of employees. The jury consisted of representatives from the ministries of Social Security and Labor, Economy, and Environment and national business associations.
This is the second time Thermo Fisher was honored as the Employer of the Year in Lithuania. In 2012, the company was named Employer of the Year for its safe and healthy work environment, and the successful integration of the Vilnius site into the company. In 2010, Thermo Fisher was named Environmental Enterprise of the Year. In 2013 the company received the main CSR Award in the National Responsible Business Awards.
ALBC Releases Labor Code Reform Ideas - The American-Lithuanian Business Council has released its white paper. The Council officially presented the paper to Lithuanian Minister of Economy Evaldas Gustas yesterday at a roundtable meeting in Washington, DC.
Minister Gustas promised to review the Council’s recommendations and share them with his government.
